This comic covers a local issue, that may ring true in some other regions of the world as well, the subject touches on climate change, water shortage and over consumption.
The story talks about watermelon, and how a very dry region in Morocco shifted its farming traditions to start producing watermelons, not for the local market, but rather for the European market, and the Gulf as well. All of this is over consuming the water resources, that no longer exist on the surface, and instead dips into groundwater, which itself is running very low.
